Sugar Maple welcomes Charlie Parr!

The Sugar Maple Music Festival is pleased to present long-time festival friend Charlie Parr at the Majestic Friday, October 25, 2019! Charlie played the festival in 2005, 2008 and 2011 and we’re thrilled every time he makes it back to Madison. Tickets and details here.

CHARLIE PARR is the eponymous new album by the Minnesota-based folk blues artist the same name. The album is a collection of new songs and new studio versions of classics/audience favorites from throughout Charlie’s career and will be released August 30 (UK/EU/AUS) and September 27 (North America, rest of the world) on Red House Records. Recorded at the legendary Pachyderm Studio in Canon Falls, MN, CHARLIE PARR features Charlie’s trademark resonator guitar and 12-string with co-producer Liz Draper on bass, longtime collaborator Mikkel Beckmen on percussion, Jeff Mitchell on electric guitar, accordion, organ, backing vocals, and Dave Hundrieser on harmonica. The album is an honest and raw recording of Charlie reflecting on himself and his career up to this point. It’s a musical reckoning that came after a freak accident less than a year ago that forced him to relearn how to play guitar, causing him to take stock of the songs he’s written over his lifetime. CHARLIE PARR is a stunning folk record that will surely stand the test of time, just like the man himself.

A few of our favorite memories from the 2018 Sugar Maple Music Festival

Welcome to the 16th Annual Sugar Maple Music Festival! We are just days away…

Whether this is your first time or 16th time joining us, here are some tips and helpful information.

  • Bring the kids!  We are a family-friendly festival and ages 17 and under are free.
  • We have food!  Check out this year’s vendors.
  • We have drinks!  Beer from Tyranena Brewing Company  and mead from Bos Meadery.  Yum, yum!
  • We have a raffle and silent auction! Check out the raffle table at the back of the big tent to see the wide range of prizes.
  • Carry-ins are allowed but please support our wonderful food and drink vendors!
  • Bring your instruments for jamming!  This is an interactive festival and your participation is what sets the Sugar Maple fest apart from other music fests. Check-out the schedule and find out when you can jam with Wood & Wire, Hubby Jenkins and Jeffery Broussard!
  • We are a rain or shine event; all of our artists perform under tents or shelters.
  • Bring a chair or a blanket to sit on.  We have a limited number of chairs and yours are more comfortable anyway.
  • Leave all pets at home. Park rule.
  • Other great activities this year include…
  • We know you’re social (we’ve seen you on the dance floor!) so spread the word…
  • We are a 501(c)3 non-profit and all our money goes toward bringing this great music to Madison.  Please consider donating on-line or by adding to the donation jar at the merchandise table.  We can’t do this without your support!

Get set to see and hear some of the world’s most accomplished musicians — and then grab your instrument and make music with them!

Scheduled jams kick-off Saturday with the bluegrass Bloody Mary jam at the Roots & Reasons stage. This year’s featured jam leaders include
Wood & Wire (bluegrass), Hubby Jenkins (old-time) and Jeffrey Broussard (Cajun). Don’t miss this opportunity!
